Utility Shutoff Prevention
The state of Maryland recognizes that having utilities on at home is especially important for people who rely on medical equipment at home. To help protect residents relying on their utility service to power their equipment, there is a program in place that prevents utilities being shut off in the home of any resident who has an approved Medical Certification Form on file.
Completing the form is a straightforward process. Download the form, fill it out, have the form signed by your physician, nurse practitioner, or a physician assistant and then send it to your utility company.
You can learn more about the form on the state of Maryland's website and download the form here.
